Other uses for Olive Oil

Just eating olive oil is limiting its benefits! In the handy tips below, we’ll show you how to integrate Colavita Olive Oil into your beauty routine, preserve fresh herbs and more! Read on…

For Body – Olive Oil & Sugar Body Scrub

2 cups sugar in the raw

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Add olive oil to the sugar in a small bowl and stir. Mix in honey and vanilla. Store in an airtight jar and mix before using, as the oil will settle. This scrub is intended for use on the body only. For a gentler scrub, use brown sugar.

For Face – Olive Oil, pineapple & parsley face scrub

1/4 cup Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2/3 cup fresh pineapple chunks

Pulse pineapple in a blender, then add oil until almost smooth but still chunky. Add parsley, and blend carefully — you don’t want the mask to liquefy. Apply to skin and leave on for no more than 5 minutes. The Alpha-Hydroxy Acids in the pineapple exfoliate the skin, while the parsley acts as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and natural acne treatment.

For hair – Olive Oil & honey hair mask

1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoons Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Combine the olive oil and honey in a small bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds. Once it is nice and warm (you want it to be almost hot), mix it up as well as you can. Apply to damp hair. Coat your hair thoroughly and wrap it in a damp warm towel or a shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo your hair as usual.

For makeup – makeup remover

cotton pads
a little Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Put a small amount of Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil onto a cotton ball or pad and use to remove eye makeup.

Sometimes you have more herbs than you can handle, or cook with at the moment. Perhaps your dinner party was cancelled, or your pets decided to have an armed revolt, completely up-ending your dinner plans.Or maybe you’d just like to preserve that garden fresh flavor just a little longer.

Enter Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil and your freezer. Together with some ice cube trays (we like the silicone variety as you can peel them away from the cubes they house), you too can create your very own herb garden without the dirt, bugs and pruning. Here’s how:

Finely chop the fresh herbs and group them into piles that measure about 2 tablespoons. Place 2 tablespoons of the herbs into each square of the ice cube trays. Make sure you keep the herbs separate, so you know what you’re getting…

Cover the herbs with Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil and freeze.

When you want a dash of fresh herbs, heat up a skillet over medium heat, and pop a few cubes (as many as are needed) into the skillet. The oil will melt and free the
herbs, leaving you nothing but fresh flavor.
